I seem to have chosen an interesting site format that currently showed all of my text being typed in cap lock. I will one day pay greater attention to the ui of the site and the fact that a lot of the photos that i upload here also seem to lack centring of the objects within the photo and any alignment to the corners.
The year 2025 has been a year of extremes, with being just one month in. on the west of the nation, there are fires that are completely ravaging an area that is bigger than manhattan in los angeles and destroying homes that were never in the path of wildfires and meanwhile on the east coast, manhattan is experiencing some of the coldest weather it as in january in the last 2 years. this coming week we are expecting -14 degrees celsius and snow has been coming in from december, which is much earlier in the year. it’s the polar vortex and el nino all occurring all at once in the same nation and if we can’t see the devastation that god save our future generations. whilst some of us may be safe for the time being it’s still only a matter of time before these environmental disasters affect us if not surely our children. the changes are definitely happening in faster cycles than they used to be and what used to be an abstract melting of polar ice caps is showing some real life harm in the lives of people i know. when i think about it, it feels like one of those scenes in a movie where the camera is simultaneously zooming into something whilst moving away from it – a dolly zoom is what it’s called. It’s a little hard to fully understand such an abstract end game level of devastation that is going to occur to humanity whilst starting to slowly see the real life signs taking place already. Given the lack of joint effort from all the people in the world on such an important matter it’s clear to say that rather than prevention, the goal will be to find the cure. We are not going to be able to avoid the worst from happening because everyone is self-interested and will not stop the worst from happening. Rather, we will have to look towards the few scientists who care (or are driven by the monetary attraction) of creating solutions that will mitigate and help homes avoid getting burnt by forest fires or flooded increasingly or create materials that will allow humans to be in the environment even as it gets harsher each winter.
